TESTAMENTUM PORCELLI

    It’s a theatrical show which is inserted in the vein of the Carnival Wills.

The most ancient version is that of Grunnio Corocotta (342/420), according to St. Girolamo, was sung at that time by the childs in the schools in Rome. Some rear versions dated IX-XII sec exist.

    The pig is submitted to process and confirms his mischiefs. In this public confession there is contained the ethnological core of the party. The confession produces the liberation of the community from the evil performed by his members. At this point the pig dictates will and allegorically puts the various parts of his body in appropriate way to the characteristics of the people appointed in the inheritance, with equivoche allusions, playful and satirical.
